Friday October 21
6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Animal Sculptures:  Work as a team or by yourself to create the animal of your choice using pliers and wire, by sculpting a figure while learning about the animals at Little Basin. Then you get to cover it with tape, paper and mesh.  Add color by painting, and you will love your new wire and mesh animal sculpture.

Saturday October 22
10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Mask Making: Let’s make animal masks.  You can transform your face into a wolf or an eagle or a deer or any other animal, like one you might see at Little Basin.  This is a messy and fun project. Bring a towel, lunch and water.

3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Owl Pellets & Medicine Shield Workshop – Where science meets spirit.
(Children under 12 must team up with an adult.)
Owl pellets are the discarded remains of the small animals that an owl has eaten.  We’ll carefully and safely dissect these pellets and examine the bones to learn what species of animals they are.  Then you can make what is known as a Medicine Shield.  The shield is made from the cleaned bones from the pellets.  A mix of art and science, the Shield represents a time of fresh ideas, energy and promise.  It is a time of great undertakings, of new beginnings and taking a chance.  This activity takes patience and can be a meditation. Come see for yourself and learn about owls.

7:00 – 8:30 pm
Little Basin Art Camp Campfire
Join us at the campfire ring for songs about native animals, stories and fun around the fire.  Bring a jacket and be prepared to listen and join in!

Sunday, October 23
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Tule Technology of the California Native Americans

Tule is a marshland plant that was used for many purposes by several California Tribes.  In this workshop, you will learn how to twine rope, create tule totems, and make bird decoys using tule reeds.
